Just buy a anterless.If I was shooting does I would not want to use my combo unless I didn’t have two bucks by late anterless season

Good idea!
There's places in the U.P. where doe are like sacred cattle , regardless of numbers...Or of winter severity making it unsuitable habitat for growing the herd.
Must be hundreds of deer per square mile when several can be seen during a hunt on a small part of a section.(!) l.o.l..

I could shoot a doe every day and not notice a decline but I like watching them more than shooting them.
Plus the northern does have that piney taste that pairs well with gin.

The sooner all or most of the deer are eliminated, the better!
(My interpretation of the peoples ideology that are proposing these new ideas)
How did these types of people ever get their hands on this wheel?...... more importantly, how do we get them the hell out ASAP?
We can petition to change these new rules but eliminating the people that even dare propose such irresponsible and inconsiderate regulations is the best cure.
What is always “overlooked” is the fact that regulations only apply to law abiding people. There is a large population of “other types” out there always.
One has to wonder if the new regulations reflect the DNR inability to police the regulations and maybe gain some revenue from deer being shot anyways.
Maybe if the DNR offered a reward (50% of fine) to Citizens who turn in people That get convicted of poaching, The lack of sufficient numbers of law enforcement Officers may not be as much of an issue.
Im all for the preservation and respect for what the great outdoors has to offer us and future generations.
The hell with the financial cluster the government will always be in and stop trying to fix it with numbers of licenses sold.

My family will not be hunting MICHIGAN at all.... We are done with the BS rule changes every 7 months and I'm tied of busting my A** for what. I'm looking into other states that will be glad to have my hard earned money in exchange for a better hunting quality and opportunity.

Published Wildlife Conservation Orders have not been updated for any 2020 changes. Last update 12/16/19. Working from home, Covid19 infections, hiring freezes and Fridays off have taken its toll. We still have not seen the 2019 Deer Harvest Survey Report. Heck the NRC still hasn’t even published Thursdays meeting agenda yet.

From 2018 deer hunter survey results. Not many hunters buy antlerless tags let alone fill them. Michigan hunters are a buckcentric culture.

Funny to me that more than one person ive started on hunting has gotten survey's. My die hard crew and me have never received one. I fill them out online still but that data can be very very off from what i see. I know off 2 farms that alone were a few hundred with blocks and unlimeted that never went counted by survey for 2 years straight. Years i was in double digits with unlimited so were many friends and while this was prior to ehd none of us were every surveyed. 100% of people i talk to on a weekley basis had more than 3 doe tags last year yet none were surveyed. Just odd.

It's only on the combo regular. The combo restricted is still a buck only license during firearm deer season. Also, the single deer license is now either sex during firearm season.
I see this reg change as a foot in the door for single buck. Fill that combo reg tag with an antlerless deer and you're limited to an 4 point/side APR buck. I also have a feeling that most people won't fill that combo tag with an antlerless deer during firearm season.
As far as not knowing how many deer are shot, I'm sure the annual survey will include questions on whether or not hunters utilized the antlerless option during firearm season. Whether they were on private or public land, and there's already questions on what county you hunt in and your success in those counties. Give this license structure a few years to gather data, and then don't be surprised if this doesn't stay permanent...permits the option to kill 2 bucks(which only 5% of hunters do anyways), and gives more opportunities with the antlerless option. I'd estimate that less than 10% of combo reg tags will be used on antlerless deer.

Just to Be Clear the Combo License that requires 4 or better on 1 Side the "DNR" does Not "CONSIDER" That an "APR"! As I ask recently if they had "Data" on How Many Bucks have been Taken using this Restricted License since it started and the Big Game Specialist stated that the DNR does not consider that License as an APR! So Some who think as I did It was an APR It IS NOT Per the MICHIGAN DNR! And Never Have!
