Early morning - late evening into the niight seems to be the best. it weems to peak in those time frames and hit or miss throughout the day. Wind seems to play a factor as well in Tawas. Don't know about the west side.
At Muskegon it's primarily a night bite.......from dark till first light. Boat fisherman will pick some up in the channel during the day but at night they run right tight to the pier/channel walls.............spawning in the rocks next to the cement walls. Mostly a jigging thing in Muskegon, gold spoons work best. Depending on current 1/2oz to 1oz gold spoons. Hopkins, swedish pimples etc etc..
