I'm looking for some recommendations or ideas for a short weekender type trip for the wife and I for our anniversary in Late September. We've done the chicago trip and we're heading to south haven in a couple of weeks. A couple of years back we stayed at a little bed and breakfast on the west side near the MI/IN state line. I've thought about Toronto or something of the likes. I'd like to keep it at about a 3 hour trip though. I know Toronto is about 5. I'd prefer to be able to leave Saturday morning and come home Sunday leaving about noon.

Toronto would have night life, plays, etc which would be fun (but the hotels look pricey!). The west side had/s wineries, but we'll be there in a couple of weeks. My in-laws have a place outside of Gaylord and we do the TC wineries at least once per year. I guess I'm looking for something new.

do a web search on great lakes cruises. i believe in sept theres a sailing ship that takes a cruise to the north channel side of lake huron. theres a profesor that goes along and gives lectures on astronomy, and they have night time beach star gazing on islands in the area. romantic setting,,, interesting experiance. sounds perfect to me.

This sounds promising. I'm not coming up with anything running on the weekends in september though.... The Huron Lady doesnt' appear to be doing anything other than a dinner cruise on monday's and tuesdays.

Take a look at Niagra on the lake, Ont. In the heart of wine country. Great bed and breakfasts, lots of small shops downtown, Theres a very nice B&B next to the Reif winery. Also close to Niagra Falls

In Prudenville. Is wonderful for a weekend get away, only 20 minutes (give or take a few) off I-75, right on Houghton Lake. Peaceful, relaxing and just plain wonderful. Randy & Laurie (your hosts) will even pick up and grill you your dinner right there. I can't recommend it enough, you will never know that the town of Houghton Lake is just down the road a bit as it's so wonderful!!!!

Tell Randy the "Zeelanders" sent you :coolgleam we have been going up there at least twice a year for the last 5 years, and they treat us like family.
