WALLEYE WORLD: Results vary, but there are some big ones in Detroit River

Andrew Barry of Livonia, 7, often fishes with his dad, Ron, who guides for walleyes and bass on the Detroit River. But when Andrew announced that he wanted to enter a walleye tournament, his father wasn't too sure, saying: "You like to fish, but when you're out there for a tournament, it's a lot more intense than just fishing for fun."

But the kid insisted, so Ron Barry called on fellow guide Scott Delano and pal Greg Sultana and the foursome entered the Detroit Walleye Federation event Sunday.

They won with five walleyes that went 39 pounds, 1 ounce, or a whopping average of 7 pounds, 13 ounces per fish.
