My best has been Lt. Dun hen. I think it works because it is more transparent, has more barbules than partridge thus it traps more air. Most insects, especially diving caddis, give off small air bubbles when emergin or diving from air trapped under the wings. Because the hen has more fibers it traps more air giving off more bubbles.
Don't discount the partridge or brahma. I did 3 of each for my spring boxes this year. I expect them to fish very similar but if last season is an indication the hen should do slightly better.
