I use 10lb mono main line, and rig it up in this order:

1-2 oz pyramid sinker. ( weight depending on wave action)

orange bead

then tie swivel after the bead.

Then tie on about a 2-3 foot leader with a small treble hook at the end. Simple slip rig. Works great. I use 8 pound floro for my leader.

I have not had good luck with trebles (I seem to get them wrapped in the leader). I usually fish a 4 or 6 single, hooked just in meat in the front of the dorsal. Seems to be tough enough to hold for a firm cast, yet I can rip the hook in to the fish on a set.

Ive been running #10lb mainline to a #12lb leader (for their teeth). Make the leader about 3-4 ft long. The longer leaders seem to be producing better.

Ive been using a #6 single red hook. Its been working well.

Let us know how you do!

10# main with a sliding 2oz pyramid, then a bead then a swivel, then 10# fluorcarbon about 2 feet long, then a size 2-4 octopus hook. SOmetimes when I am missing fish I put a treble hook stinger for a little added precaution.
