Algonac - St. Clair 5/21

Finally was able to get out for the second time this year (3rd in the last two) and almost pulled off a 2man limit trolling the SCR. My cuz did catch one more but is was ½" under. Purple was the hot color.
We were on the water 9hrs so it made for a long day. Everyone we talked too said it was tough and they didn't get much so I guess we did pretty good.
Fish were between 15"-20"
Canadian side was packed with boats.
I always tell my cuz to quit smoking so he throws down a brand new pack of smokes for size comparison lol

Does Steve have that cooler of beer on ice out there yet Douglas lol. I’d be fishing past his dock every 10-15 minutes. Would be a warm water discharge coming from his dock

Keeping an eye on the reports occasionally from over here on the west side. To be honest. I'm a little surprised at the reports of a tough bite/grind fishing. Do you locals think that things are winding down already? Or just a lull? Or are guys hammering them...just being shy on the reports? Not even June yet...sure hope there are plenty left in the river for my mid-June four day stay on the river. I don't need a "fire drill bite" but don't want to have to work too hard for em...it is vacation;)

Fish will be there for you Mike. Yesterday was slow for us up river. They were barely mouthing it. Only way to get em to eat it was to force feed them a bit. If you didn’t drop your rod tip back 6” you weren’t hooking them.

I'm hoping to be able to get back on the water soon. Done missed month of april and all of may. It's been tough. Did get out last sat night on the pier in oscoda. Managed 1 walleye so at least I've had some fresh fish to eat. Been a tough couple months though.
My dealer is waiting for the seal kit for the tilt trim pump. Soon as thats done I can pick her up. Thinking it will be time to start fishing the lake by the time I'm able to get her out. No worries for me. I like trolling harnesses around the lake. Not as hot and heavy as the river in spring but thats ok. I dont mind.

Nice!...I love watching the nets come out in front here....and know what you mean about quieter waters, it looked like a weekend out here this morning. I was texting Kevin with some pics.

In the case of around here, North Channel and lower river where it splits at Russel Island, its just a s***load of boats and lines. Some boats have 5, 6, 7 people on them! Not sure if it a true fact, but it just seems so over fished here and there are a lot of net zombies just following the crowd. I put in at NC launch yesterday afternoon, ended up by State Park as it was a little quieter and I got 5 in the box, and missed several pulling harnesses. I am not always looking to limit out, I have a crap load of fish in the freezer, just enjoy getting out and getting lines in the water. Was only out for a couple hours. Going back out Thursday afternoon, may put in further north.

Dang! Forgot about that, I'll put a sign out as well with the cooler...."MS Folks only, free ride down the slide". I know AJ was ready to give it a run.

I think with so many "working" from home the river has a lot more boats on it during the week. Unbelievable how busy it is, but still better than weekends.
