Hit some nice gills last night and after sundown the crappie rigs got put out but my wife kept fishing with a night crawler off the side of the boat. Pretty soon her rod bent and she pulled out a monster bluegill... After that 3 more.

I've never caught gills after dark before. Thought it was odd.

It's been a pretty good last few days of fishing.

Soon as the wife gets home i'm shootin' out to a fave pond to get some of the big fall gills and crappie. My f.o.r.d. has been out of comission until yesterday and reading all these posts is killing me.

I used to ice fish a private kent county lake and you would swear there were no good gills in it if you fished during the day. But after dark was a whole different story.

Yeah it's new to me but we're definitely gonna try again. We don't usually catch the BIG ones until almost dark but I usually quit fishing with worms and switch to minnows and fish for crappie after dark.

The ones she caught after dark were all 9+ inchers.
