I do a big buck contest every Fall and we just did our annual Rankins Big Buck Contest party last weekend. I have been doing the contest for 15 consecutive years, and hope to keep it going for another 15+. Its been my extreme pleasure organizing and hosting this annual party.
I have kept the same guys in it over the years, losing some along the way and picking up a few along the way as well. This past contest I had 79 of my closest friends and their kids involved. What started at a contest with 40 or so over many years, has grown to these numbers because we have all rolled our children into this. The opputunity to watch these kids grow, get involved into hunting and watching their success is nothing you can go and buy off the shelf. Its been memory makers for all us parents involved.

This past season we recorded 14 bucks over 100" and all personal bests for all 8 bucks killed this year. I recogonize the top 3 whitetail bucks killed with Bow and Arrow, and we also recognize the top 3 killed with a shotgun (any firearm). Getting our youth involved we recognize each of the biggest buck killed with both bow and firearm for the season.

The first series of pictures include the bow winners.

Tyler with his bow kill 9 point that grossed 112 1/8 his biggest with bow and the biggest youth killed buck for the contest.

3rd biggest is Brendon with his 8 that grossed scored 113 3/8 his biggest with a bow

Joe receiving his plaque for second place with an 8 point buck he killed, his biggest with archery, that grossed 130 6/8. One of two Pope and Young bucks killed this year in the contest. Joe's rack was at the Taxidermist getting mounted. I will post a pic of him later.

and Trevor with the biggest archery killed buck for the contest. Trevors buck was an 11 point that grossed 140" his biggest bow killed buck to date. Also, Trevor's first Pope and Young animal.

Shifting gears here to the shotgun kills.

First year hunter Paige took the biggest buck killed by a youth with a shotgun. Her buck was an 8 point that grossed 109 7/8"

This is the third largest buck in the contest killed by Jeff or many of us call him " 2 Shot " its an extremely wide looking 10 point, his biggest buck to his career and it grossed scored 119"

Troy killed the second biggest buck with a shotgun, and his biggest buck of his hunting career as well. This big 8 gross scored 137 4/8"

and the BIGGEST buck for the gun contest, BIGGEST buck overall for the entire season and our new BIGGEST buck in contest history is this beast Greg killed. As an 9 point he gross scored 161 2/8" just an absolutely incredible animal.

We added a hunter killed "Photo Contest" to the contest this year and I will posts those results here in a bit. It was a great addition to the contest and the younger generation will greatly appreciate this many of years from now.

Just wanted to share an annual event that I look forward to every year and has really developed into something very special for all of us.

Thanks

Pat
