Hey All! This may be a shot in the dark but I'm looking to shoot and harvest a fall turkey in UNIT YY (Private Land Only.) I understand that this combined unit/private land only unit has been implemented to press and regulate turkeys off of private property and onto public land. That being...

Didn't start hunting turkeys until I turned 60. And in the last eleven years I've only managed to shoot five toms. This was my biggest one. Shot it using a 12 ga. magnum load of #5's at a range of 15 yards. Haven't been out yet this year; I'm still fishing.

Unfortunately opening weekend was big swing and a miss on the public land I hunt in southwest michigan. Had a solid morning yesterday and called in two decent sized toms from deep tinder into shooting range in the field edge I was set up on. My hen decoy actually seemed to spook and flush them...

I am unsure if I am breaking a rule by mentioning a specific brand, so I do apologize ahead of time. I was out this morning for the opener and I was in blind ready and 10 minutes later first gobbles. I have a Avian hen and bought recently a funky chicken turkey decoy. This decoy is more head...

I hunted turkey once before on a last min decision a couple years back. Went to a buddy’s house that doesn’t hunt turkey but has the property and definitely the birds. It was a very easy, simple, sit for 30 mins and beard down. Haven’t hunted turkey since (just too busy). This year I can finally...

Hello Everyone, Out of state resident hunter here who was wondering if I should still expect to receive my turkey tags via mail in a timely matter with this corona outbreak going on. From what I know any kill tag has to be delivered by "snail mail" and no electronic printout is available. Just...

Hello everyine, I was wondering what the chances are for a non-resident to recieve tags for a limited license Southern Lower Penninsula turkey hunt. Is it common to have left over tags for Zone ZF specifically or are they difficult to obtain? It's a shame public land hunts in the southern...

Hey fellow sportsmen. I am doing my first hunt of any kind and could use a leg up if somebody is so kind. I spent the day today (Monday) on public land that I had previously scouted and I found all of the signs - scratchings, droppings, dusting bowl, feathers - and I think I've figured out his...

Some turkeys hunts have just an incredible story to them. Every one of them unique in they're own way. My pa in-law last season shot twice at a gobbler before connecting. The "look" on the turkeys face is too funny, almost like he dropped his head and tucked his shoulders after the first shot...

I have been using a dot sight made by Leapers/UTG in Livonia, MI for the past 3 season. It is their 6" T-Dot reticle (SCP-TDTDQ item#) which has performed above and beyond my expectations. This year I decided to try something new from them, a mini reflex dot sight. It looks great on the gun and...

Have you ever tried it? On this hunt we were on birds for 4 days and they kept giving us the slip. On the 4th day we made our own decoy by using a turkey fan, adhered it to a stick and stuck it in the ground. We sat on the bank of a creek in the weeds. Once these gobblers saw that fan flappin'...

Here is a video to get you all excited for the season that is fast approaching. Do you prefer to hunt in April, or take the option of the May hunt? I like May, simply because it gives me more time in the woods! Good luck to all.
  16. My 2016 Spring Turkey

This is one of five "toms" I've shot in the last nine years. Didn't start hunting turkeys until I was 60. it isn't a whole lot different than deer hunting. I've found that it requires some good camo, and patience to be successful. A few decoys always seems to help too.

  18. 2018 Spring Team Turkey contest
I was reading through the 2018 Turkey digest and came across the section about legal hunting methods. It states that we have to use no. 4 or smaller shotgun loads, is this true? Do you guys follow this rule? I have already bought a couple different boxes of shells to pattern my gun but no. 5 is...
