  1. Lk. St. Clair and St. Clair River
You see that dog in the picture? That was my night fishing pard, old Buddy Lee, a mixed breed mutt who also doubled as my pheasant hunting dog back in the day when there were still lots of pheasants around yet. Anyway, Buddy Lee would keep me abreast of anybody coming up on me in the dark...
  2. Lk. St. Clair and St. Clair River
During the last several years I have noticed that there seems to be an increase of lunker smallmouth bass migrating up Port Huron's section of the St. Clair River, especially after enduring a month of real hot July weather. I assume that quite a few of these fish come upstream from Lake St...
  3. Lk. St. Clair and St. Clair River
I was in the 8th grade and on a four-day Easter break from Washington Jr. High. And how I loved to fish back then, every chance I got to do so. As I was walking home with some perch that I caught earlier that morning at the mouth of Black River, a car pulled up beside me. This older gentleman...
  4. Lk. St. Clair and St. Clair River
I've got some of the size 3 (2 3/8" long) Lindy River Rockers I'm anxious to try over in Port Huron this year while still fishing at night off the sea wall letting the fast current do all the work. Any of you guys ever use them before, and if so, what was the results? Looks to me like they'd...
  5. Lk. St. Clair and St. Clair River
The St Clair River was "on fire" last night, folks catching walleyes left and right. Besides all the boats I saw stretched out along the drop off, I saw literally hundreds of people casting jigs from shore all the way from Marysville to Port Huron, virtually anywhere there was an open spot to...
  6. Lk. St. Clair and St. Clair River
This first photo shows me holding on to my first genuine St Clair River walleye fishing pole back in 1959. I was 10 years old and already hooked on the sport. If I remember right, that was a five dollar Shakespeare reel my Dad picked out for me at a Port Huron sporting goods store. This...
  7. Product Reviews
Back in the latter 1960's I took a shop class at P.H. Junior College (now S.C.C.C.C) that introduced me to various types of welding. And every now and then, I still put what I learned in that class to use and make myself some sort of contraption with my buzz-box to make my hunting/fishing...
  8. Lk. St. Clair and St. Clair River
Does anybody know if either of the fish cleaning stations on Black River and the Marysville launch are still open? If so, are they open at night too or just during daylight hours? I don't live in Port Huron any more, and all my relatives there have passed on, so I would really appreciate...
  9. Lk. St. Clair and St. Clair River
Caught these walleyes off the wall a few nights back on a shallow running reef runner crank bait that I set at about five feet off the bottom. Didn't really do much before 9:30 p.m. but things started picking up shortly afterwards. Naturally it got colder as it got later but the fish didn't...
  10. A stringer full of nice keepers

Nothing beats tying into some good eaters like these on the St Clair River. Walleye and perch are my favorite fish to eat.
  11. Tiger Musky caught in August, 2016

Caught this 42" Tiger Musky while actually trying to catch some smallmouth bass with big minnows. And yes, I did have a musky tag with me at the time and filled it out. Gave this fish to one of my neighbors who cooked it up and said it tasted as good as any pike he ever ate.
