Only flat spot to mount the RAM pivot mount was smack in the middle, bridging the lip of the cockpit. Love how it can pivot 360 degrees! (sort of, the chord will limit motion)

My kayak, a Future Beach Trophy 126, has a dihedral base (concave down) and I was concerned about air bubbles forming under the kayak. So, I mounted the ducer on a flat plane one step above the bottom. Should do the trick.
