Here's a short video showing some food plots that I installed and how a Kasco Vari Slice Seeder works. I prepared the ground by brush hogging what was needed and then tilled. I was running out of time with the corn growing all around and this was my last chance to get some food plots in the...

Howdy folks, I'm now goodworkstractors, formally known as cscott711 on here. I've been slowly building up a small tractor dealership in Kalamazoo offering low hour, pre-owned John Deere and Kubota tractors for sale. Typically ranging in size from sub-compacts and up to large compacts in the...

Here's a pic of my Crimson clover food plot. This is the fourth year it has been reseeding itself. All I do is put on some 5/24/24 each year after brushhogging. Add water and Walaa! Doesn't get much easier. No till works great on this sandy soil.

All the waiting was over and a moment 9 months in the making had finally arrived. As sunlight began to illuminate the woods around me the opening day of Michigan's 2013 season slowly came to life. Right at first light I spotted a small buck on the northern edge of the food plot I was sitting...

"If we just had a pair of hip waders we could get across the river and sneak into that stand quickly and quietly from the back side without our wind ever blowing into the woods. I'll have to see if I can find a cheap pair somewhere." Silence……….. followed by "yeah...

Sometimes great expectations can lead to great disappointments and over the years I've learned the hard way that going into a hunting season with great expectations can quickly put you in the wrong frame of mind. This year I'm learning that going into the summer off season with lofty...

Early antlerless season is a distant memory, the main bow season is long gone and the firearms season is done and over with. Some area's are into muzzleloader season now but if you are a bowhunter at heart like I am than you are smack dab in the middle of the late archery season. The weather...

Summer whitetail sightings really get the blood boiling for the upcoming hunting season! Giant velvet monsters together in harmony cruising the hay or bean fields, while the setting sun is throwing her final rays against the majestic backdrop of woodlines, fencerows, and cornfields. Every year when the calendar flips to August I suddenly realize that the season is right around the corner. I also realize that I have roughly a million things left to do before I am ready to hit the woods. This year is no exception and once again I have have a pretty long list of things I...

By the time the sun rises on October 1st, 2012 and I get my first glimpse of the new season all the work and sweat of the summer will be a distant memory. Unfortunately we are still a long ways away from that morning and we still have a lot of projects that we want to get done. This past...

In my last post I talked about the work we were doing to get our food plots ready for the fall. That work is far from over and we've got several more projects to get done in the next few weeks but sometimes you have to mix a little fun in with your work. Thankfully it's the middle of trail...

Once the trail cameras are set up and the buck pictures start rolling in it can be really easy to get distracted from the rest of the work that needs to happen on the farm. Seeing those first few good bucks of the year is super exciting and once those images get stuck in my mind I start to get...

As the weather warms and we move towards the end of May it's no surprise that I've been spending a good amount of time thinking about our food plots lately. Despite the warm temps we've been seeing during the day I know that our property has still been seeing low temps and frosts in the...
