My wife and I attended a small dinner put on by the American Woodcock Society with help from Great Lakes Wine and Spirits last night.

Al Stewart spoke about the biology of Woodcock and it was most informative. He is a rather engaging speaker and of course very knowledgeable. He also worked the room and answered individual questions at the tables during lulls in the dinner.

If you get the chance to hear Al speak I would say it is worthwhile for sure.

There were 60 or so guests...

It was a relative bargain at $25 for dinner plus $15 for the wine tastings...

The Crow’s Nest and Chef Bob Vala put on a very nice meal and the wine was far better than 5 pours for $15.....

We happen to live nearby, but we met people from a wide area. Mrs. Peterson from the GEM near Onaway was there and was recognized by Mr. Stewart.

All in all it was more interesting than I would have thought...

I am not exactly sure how there was much money raised, although there was a small silent auction...

    Fun enough, in any event......

I heard good things about this dinner. Maybe next time I will have to take a trip to the cabin in Pellston and join!!!

Was it at the crows nest in Habor Springs?

Technically, I guess that is the Greater Cross Village Metropolitan area...

It is Harbor Springs mailing, however...
