My best market hunter was four on the first pull, then two more with my second and last shell. That was with the 20, on a day I brought 9 shells as the second box I had packed was empty. Came home with nine empties, a limit of woodies, a goldeneye, and 6 coots. 'Twas an odd morning.
Made a weak side (left hand) shot on a coot last season on dare. Coot went into sausage pile.
COOT COOT finally decided to trie one last year taste like sheet. This year probably make snack sticks with them.
Coot Control! We used to shoot a lot of them when we were younger. They make decent raccoon bait and training birds for the pups.
I kept saying I was going to try one.. I did and I regretted it lol. I brushed my teeth twice, ate some beef jerky, drank a beer(which made it worse) and still couldnt get the taste out of my mouth. I tossed the rest in the dogs bowl, they wouldn't go near it. If you guys are making them into sausage I'd go heavy on spice and garlic.
Friends don't let friends shoot coots...or lawn darts...
No coots for me thanks.
Did debate about a woodcock that was trying to gift itself at the truck one evening. But goose loads were figured as a bit heavy at six foot.
Every chance I get! Training birds
