I have looked in my books and tried PlantSnap with no success..

it has taken over 3 of my plots that are pretty far apart from each other

As kids we called it pants grass because them dang fuzzy things crawl up your pant legs and will drive you nuts especially if it reaches them .

We called it tickle grass because of the way it crawls up your pants leg.

It is not tickling my fancy, that is for sure..

it showed up late in the season and took over some plots seemingly overnight. The plots are 1/4 mile apart.

Looks like I will spray these in the spring and start over.

    Thanks for the help...

It is an invasive grass for sure...much like what we call witch grass around here. It has already gone to seed so you can expect to see plenty of it next year as well. It is always a good idea to thoroughly clean the debris off your tractor and mower before moving to the next plot/field as that is its primary means of spreading.

You should strongly consider planting a roundup ready crop next year so you can spray it as it pops back up again. If not RR, at least plant a broadleaf crop that you can spray with a grass-specific herbicide like Clethodim which will nuke the grasses but not harm the broadleaf crop.

Thanks for making this post, I had no clue what it was either. It popped up in my first year switchgrass plantings seemingly overnight like you said. No much I can do other than mow. Hoping the switch out competes it next year.
