We closed on the new house and I now live here. Man I've never seen so many geese before. Granted, from what I hear good luck getting permission. Also, a ton of them hang out in the city (duh).

Looks like some are still around here. 2 nights ago we had a big rain storm with lots of wind. Now we've had a big temp drop.

You can travel south and do the conservation snow goose season.

Curious what part of IL you live in now. I was born on the south side of Chicago and grew up in Hoffman Estates before moving to Michigan.

Hey Greg! I'm hanging in there, busy as crap between work and setting up the house. I got a nasty gram from the sub HOA for the boat being in the driveway for a whopping 3 days. It fits in the garage with an inch to spare after I took the handle off.

I wish I could help you on hunting opportunities there but I didn't get into hunting until I moved to Michigan. The area you live in use to be open country / farm land 30 yrs ago especially to the west off Randall Rd. I haven't been that far south in a while and I'm sure much more developed but I have family and friends that live just north of you in South Elgin, and also Batavia and Aurora to the south. They do have draw areas in Illinois but they run them much differently than Michigan. I've heard the Mississippi and Illinois River systems backwaters is where it's at. As you said on your original post and have discovered quickly the geese populations are insane. Good luck out there keep us posted on how you do and what you find.

Drove from Michigan back to Missouri yesterday. Could not believe the number of geese I saw between I-57 and I-55 along I-80. There were several fields that were each holding 1,000+ birds, and more in the air just about everywhere you looked.

I haven't seen that many, but I have seen several fields with hundreds in them. Too bad those fields were in the city limits or too close to houses!
