I have been wondering if it would be productive to set traps for just a weekend while I was up north bow hunting. This weekend I had a 3 day weekend and decided to give it a try. The answer was yes. I set 2 traps at 10:00 pm thursday and had this red fox waiting for me on Fri morning. I reset the same trap and the next day had another red waiting for me. These fox were my first animals taken on a drag setup. I was finally able to set a sand pit that before was off limits because I couldn't get any stakes to hold. I decided to buy some drags and give it a try and it worked. After coming home and reading everyones posts it looks like alot of fox are being taken. Now I just gotta catch one of them yotes.
That would have a bonus for sure! I guess the lesson is to go with your gut feeling! Fine catches. Dan
How exciting!!! Congratulation on doing everything right! Thanks for sharing the photos. Continued Good Luck on your Weekend Traplines!
I agree. I will not be able to reset this spot until firearm deer season. I only had two traps set this weekend but plan on setting seven for deer season so we'll see how it goes. On Sunday, I had a bear visit the same set but lucky for me he wasn't too interested. Does anyone know if a bear can even fit in a #3?
Don't worry about me getting spoiled.I am still a very humble rookie with lots to learn. It's kinda funny, when I first started all I wanted to do was catch something. Now I want to learn as much as I can about each species and what makes them tick. This is the most fun I've had while learning something in my life.
