The black boots are rated for temperatures as low as -20 while the white boots can be used as low as -65! Micky Boots tend to run large, but allow for additional heavy wool socks. We recommend heavy weight wool socks to increase your comfort and additional insulation.

-20 and -65 what? F or C? The boffins are rated -148F. How they come up with these numbers I have no idea.

The white Mickeys are more insulated. Some Army Surplus stores have the boots cut in half and you will see the Whites have more insulation than the black.

White micks are the warmer of the two. With my black one I can feel the cold but feet do not get cold often and if they I just moved my toes around and all good

Been wearing Mickeys wht & blk for many years. Best ice boot on the planet. Put a foot through the ice and take water on, no problem as your foot will warm up to it till you get a chance to dump it out - Take sock off, go barefoot and finish out the day with no big deal. All that for under a 100 bucks... No brainer really.

So... got the size 13 impacts. The insulation feels real snug with light socks. Does it break in?

I promise that if your in -148°, your feet will freeze in any boot that's not heated after an hour max, not to mention most of the rest of your body. Most ice sitters use shanty's when temps dip below 20 ° especially with any kind of wind.

Oh I know. What I was getting at was the ratings are pretty extreme and unless performed under some standard condition, comparison between brands are probably unreliable.

White Mickeys all the way, I use one pair of socks & still "wiggle" room, lol.... good to 5 below zero f....coldest I've used them....I love them....

One huge mistake people make is to think more socks = more warmth, kinda sorta true, but Main thing is to keep any boot "loose" enough to not feel anywhere near "tight"....circulation is #1 for any warmth....cheers....

And they are waterproof, for a distance, lol....

Ya I get it. They all have those over rated sub zero guarantee. I've been on the ice in 0° temps for 4 hours in a wind break ice fishing and my mickey mouse and Saskatchewan's both were no match for that temp for extended periods. My feet get cold in any boot unless I'm walking or in a shack or shanty. Can't beat Mickey mouse boots or Saskatchewan's or Baffin impacts but with only 1/2-3/4 inches between skin and winter, winter's gonna win.
