Great group of Veterans today on the Bay Charter's Boat.
Had the time of my life today. Could have done without the heavy down pores and the wind but I wouldn't trade it for any other Father's day. I spent today with my dad, brother and my new veteran friend Bob. All 4 of us were veterans, none were sailers but we didn't let the high seas get us down.. We only ended up with 11 keeper eyes, 4 perch but must have had a thousand laughs. The biggest one was when the captain scooped up a nice keeper, did a wave dance, fell off the deck landed in Bob's lap and flipped the fish back to swim another day.
It was my pleasure to help put you on some fish. Didn't get a chance to talk with you after. Glad you found some and were able to get there with your boat. Great talking with you this morning. Shoot me a pm if you ever want to run out sometime.
Thanks for the pic. My phone stayed in the glove box to avoid being water logged. Our veterans were warriors and hung in there despite the conditions. And today wasn't easy on anyone. Special thanks all that helped put this on as it has become my favorite time of the year. Also would like to thank my first mate tim(spoonfed) for all the help. Couldn't have done it without ya
Cripes I don't mind admitting, I was a bit wiped out yesterday! And yeah, that's my dirty ol fish cooler! Lol - I'll get with you Ralph!
Certainly was a trying day with the wind and the waves! But I was completely honored, and wouldn't have missed it for the world!
Hats off to Ralph and the whole cleaning team! Amazing job getting through all those fish.
My two vets were great guys and really gun-ho to get on fish despite the weather and conditions! They had served together a decade prior and were great buddies. One now lives in Virginia and traveled to Michigan just for this event.
We didn't exactly tear the fish up, but we got on some really nice one's and the guys had a blast!
I'm extremely proud to participate in this event and hope to be able to continue to do so for many more years.
Thanks goes out to Reelwildfun (Billy) for helping out being my 1st mate on short notice. He really busted his butt to help run his side of the boat on his only day off work!
Thanks to Mike (SpankinEyes) and Traci for pre-fishing with me Saturday morning. Had a blast both days fishing despite the conditions!
BTW: Nice meeting a few folk and seeing a bunch of regulars!
Nice job on the fish Kenny! Nice meeting you at the cleaning tent. My kids and I were wiped out too. The 45 minute ride home felt like it took 2 hours! And yes-I called off work today!! I saw you loading up your boat later as we were leaving. Great day all around!
I got the cooler Kenny....I don't clean my fish cooler all that well, but....I had to hose yours out and put some dish soap in it over night! ...I'll give a quick scrubbing today, but I think a lot of that seasoning is part of the plastic now..haha....I'm fishing Wednesday out of sunset or maybe even sebewaing. I could drop it behind Mikes camper, or get with you...you just owe me a perch trip this August, been awhile ...
Thanks to everyone who works hard to do this for our veterans. Im honored to fish with our brave.
Yes conditions, to say the least, were tough but id do it again today for the guys we had . They were tough as nails and never complained . We caught lots of fish and they had a great time. And thats what matters.
Brandon thanks for the opportunity to do this great event again. Im looking foward to it again every fathers day.
Hats off to you guy's !! Veteran's deserve everything.
Where's their board's 2mph perfect for the spoon bite...
I think the smile here shows what this event is all about. What a great time and thanks to all the boat captains and volunteers!
It's great to see all of you captains that fished in tough conditions. I'm sure the folks aboard your boats have braved a few tough times for all of us.
