Are the workers of the state of Michigan back to work full time or
    are they still furloughed?

Also can independent contractors still collect unemployment once they
have exhausted there first 6 months of the benefit?

    One more,
Can anybody still sign up for unemployment and declare that Covid
is the reason they can not look/get a job?

I did look in google and everything I find is from back in March and April.

Supposedly they are still doing an extra $300 on top of your normal benefits, reduced from the previous $600. I don't think I know anyone still on it, at least not that I have heard.

I am unsure if that still qualifies for anyone who is out of work or reduced hours like before with the additional $600. I would imagine everyone would still blame covid, how can they prove one way or the other?

$300 was retroactive and only for a couple weeks.

Michigan's pre-covid unemployment rate was 4.3% (Feb) and is now approximately 8.7% (Aug), so I'd have to say that we aren't back to full employment. A lot better than the 20-24% at the height of the lockdown.

To the best of my knowledge, PUA benefits aren't being paid anymore for independent contractors, though some may still be out of work.

Also, a person can be sent home for a short time period, including for covid, and does qualify for unemployment benefits.

It is no different for state employees, than for anyone else. We dont get a pass on the UIA mess.

Currently working less than full time, but saving my remaining weeks of UIA in case things go south again

3 more weeks of $300 has been approved up to week ending Sept 5th. Should be paid out this week.

Maybe I should look at my bank account

If you are eligible for an extension, UIA just gives it to you without needing a app for normal hourly workers.
My self-employed painter buddy has been getting $165 a week, plus the extra $600 , now $300 since April

eta I just noticed a UIA Pre-Paid Card deposit of $260.48, so I got 1 week

As soon as this extra $$$ stops or November 23 comes up, I'll esign and date my Social Security Application
