Probably would of didn't have mine at the time.
Softshell turtles taste as good as snappers. They're fun to catch on hook and line too.
They do put up a heck of a fight on a fishing line caught a few over the years when targeting catfish with chicken liver
I had a buddy who used to trap snappers a lot and always talked about how good they are. Ive caught plenty while fishing and the smell of them really turned me off of eating them. There's some monster soft shells where I fish the most and can be caught pretty easily on corn in some spots. Might have to try one. How do you guys cook up soft shells?
We used to hook some monsters fishing the weed beds on the Saginaw bay.
Got two new traps in the mail today. Gotta wait until tomorrow to set them though.
Got one keeper so far
Nice one man!
Don't lie! @HOSS48604 caught it
Nice turtle! Turtle soup at Camp Crawdad 2018?!
Set a trap yesterday with Junkman. Had two in it this morning, but they were a bit short. The bigger of them measured 12.5".
I've created a group on fb also. Michigan turtle trappers, if anyone would like to join. It's a new group, so it's only a few people right now.
Had snappers grilled And they were very good
Thanks for letting me tag along.
Not a problem, any time.
