Anyone have experience with the trail cams that send pics via text?
Looking to see how well they work, cost, brand and what service they work on.
This is completely new to me so I’m not sure if it’s the worth the cost.

they are fairly cheap. i bought the bone view in the $30 range and promptly lost it in the state park before i ever used it. next i bought the stealth brand, walmarts, $20, it worked fine, and then it didn't, just kept saying error,so i took it back and bought a hand held viewer but will not send pics

I've had the Spartan cam for about 2 years now and am contemplating getting another. Around $400 and it'll send Emails and text messages.

    Yep
When I first got it, pics were about 4 minutes to get. Now about 20 but it could be my mail server. I didn't do the text, it doesn't sound to hard though.

Never had one, looked at them.
One thing that stood out is to make sure which provider you want to go with. In other words, check to see if it's an ATT cam or a Verizon cam. They have different rates, as I recall Verizon is cheaper but don't hold me to that. Check it out yourself.

How many bars of service is needed to send picts? What type do you have?

I have the Spartan AT&T version. I only have 2 bars and it works fine.

Is the rural internet setup you have is still working good? Any issues at all?

    Thanks,

I have a unit made by Moultrie and is serviced through Verizon. It works great with only three bars and runs $200.

I struck out with a Stealth with ATT in the thumb. My cell phone loses service on a lot of days too. Those can be long sits once we become accustomed to reading the paper on your phone. Ha! I have given up on the cellular ones.

I really like the idea of cameras i don't need to grab cards from as i know it is disruptive in the woods during the season but i can't resist pulling them. i would like to use the cuddie link system to have them shoot out to a place closer to my bunk house, but the cuddies can't be locked to a tree and although i am on private land, i am sure they will walk away if they aren't locked. Knock on wood, my locked cameras that are expensive (Recoynx) haven't been messed with. Wish the cuddie link cameras were lockable.
