IMG_1350.JPG IMG_1349.JPG Shot a nice bird for the second year in a row. Ive been watching turkeys for years and never understood the hype. After this years hunt I can say I won't be missing another turkey season!! Happen to live in a great location and it's uncommon that I don't see a turkey in one of the three fields surrounding my property on a daily basis. Went out the opener and couldn't get out until the evening. Callled in a Tom within 15 minutes but I was set up on the edge of a field and didn't have the right cover. Literally walked within 10 ft of me to get into the field. The hen was behind me and I couldn't raise my gun to get a shot off. The Tom got nervous and ran off. 3 days later I watched a real nice Tom chase off another Tom while corralling 10 hens out in the field. Saw where they went in the woods to roost and set up the next morning right on the field edge. Within 5 minutes the woods was shaking with the Tom gobbling. By 630 the hens flew out of the roost and landed right by my decoys. As soon as their feet hit the ground I could see the Tom making his way into the field. Stepped out 20 yards in front of me with 3 jakes trailing behind. The rest is history. This bird weighed 27.5#, 1 3/8" spurs, 11 1/4" beard. The taxidermist was pretty fired up to say the least! Now I'm counting down the hours til next season and trying to take my buddies out. Doesn't trump whitetail but it's pretty damn close.

Your getting a taste. You'll forget about pine goats shortly. They've totally manipulated my life plans.

It is pretty darn close, but I still like chasing the goats more. Been going out of state a lot the past couple years
