Played whack a rock a couple times over the weekend with my 15HP Merc. Didn't destroy the prop but it was a not so gentle reminder that I had no spare. Seeings how this puddle jumper most likely isn't done stirring up the bottom, I had to jump on this. Didn't even know they made stainless for such small motors, much less that they could be had this inexpensively. I am sure it will pay for itself in the long run, no blunted edges or dings. Never had a Solas before, hope it pans out. Only things I know for sure about props is avoid Michigan Wheel and that Powertech makes really nice ones. LOL

They have an issue spinning hubs for no reason. Had it happen with a couple of them. Came to find out I wasn't the only one.

The only thing about stainless is it has no give.Instead of chipping up your prop you could damage parts in lower unit.Just what I heard, dont know if its true.

No, it's not true. They have the same hubs that aluminum props do, the hub slips on a hard prop strike that would cause lower unit damage,. The difference is that the Stainless doesnt get damaged or blunted from low velocity strikes that damage the aluminum propellers themselves.

I had a Solas SS on my 25hp Merc. I liked the prop. I know people say you won't see a performance increase with a SS prop on that small of a motor but I can tell you on my 25hp I absolutely had better performance. And this is comparing a Solas SS to Solas Al of the same pitch and diameter.

Boating conditions vary. Because pitch estimation by this prop finder may therefore be wrong, it is important that propeller suitability be tested upon installation. Wide open throttle RPM, with boat on the water in forward gear under normal loading conditions, should fall within the recommended range specified by the engine manufacturer. Prop clearances with lower unit and trim tab should also be checked.
