how is clarity today on Lsc and is Crocker ready or no
Ok Crocker is closed
Are they going to clean all that crap out of the boat launch area ?
On the North end it was about a 1/4 mile of dirty water then clean water. Not sure how the west shoreline is.
Even when they do get it dredged, you're still launching on a **** covered bottom.....
Others are sayin sometime this month.
went out of south river road dnr launch. it was clean all over anchor bay then dirtier around 16 mile. But smallies were biting and the largemouth were biting. Not huge ones but got about 20 or so and a few rockies. in a little area. Wind was horrible
any updates on this yet heard they opened it up but not sure if thats true
This happens every year, but they haven't done anything to stop if from happening. Instead, they are spending millions on a bird sanctuary near Harley Ensign, that I don't see the need for. Maybe the duck hunters can explain that one to me. Regardless, we need a break-wall that is in line with the front face of the marina next to it, with bubblers on the entrances to keep all the crap from blowing into that area and settling there when we have E or NE winds. Then they should dredge it out to a healthy depth and it should stay that way for years.
They could increase the cost of the recreation pass by a $1 or $2 and use those funds for that, plus a new ramp complex on Belle Isle. As far as that goes, the State should buy the 9 mile Ramp and revamp it to make it more usable (deeper, widen the road in and out, maybe even have golf carts run you back and forth to your cars on the weekends, like they do at Wheatley to speed up the launch process).
There are no good options on the South half of the lake on the US side, which is crazy, given the number of boats and the importance of that lake to our region. Not that I want more taxes or fees, but the money has to come from somewhere, and the Recreation pass is the biggest bargain around as is. I thought it was too low to begin with at $10 (now $11). Anything below $20 is still a huge bargain, IMO.
That is Not a DNR project. That is being done with Federal $$$ It's part of Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, That is a federal program, Paid for With federal funds. But Unfortunately the Feds don't build boat launch's. That's up to the state, And YES We Need a State launch on the South End of the lake, to replace the existing piece of crap we have their now on Crocker !!!!!!!!!!! That should have Never Been Built in that location in the first Place. And theirs No Need for extra Funds they have plenty! They just need to get off their ass's and obtain some land that makes sense and git'er done. And don't count on a launch at Belle Isle ether. Way to many Private donations from Affluent people That sit on the Belle Isle Advisory Committee!! That don't want one.
Pic from yesterday
Id pay 100 dollars annually if they could buy all the other ramps on the detroit and 9 mile and be able to use our recreation pass
I would too, its a joke trying to launch on the south side or the river.
