Van Buren and Allegan just suck when the snow machine gets to churning!

Magician Lake ice checked today out front of the ramp, double layer of sketchy ice with watery slush in between, 2 hits with spud goes thru in places. On out toward the island, it is only a single thin ice layer with slush and snow on top, 1 hit with the spud in places goes on thru. Dangerous Imho, needs way more time!

I’m on the east side of Eagle Lake. The first 80’ is solid ice, at least 4”. The further you go is 2 hits with the spud and right threw. Then it gets very slushy. Not much snow on the lake

I went to little paw paw and you need to be careful directly on the other side from the boat launch. I saw some odd 10-12 inch black spots, got within 10 feet and noticed water bubbling. About 6-8 springs with no ice. Anywhere there was deep snow 3-4 inches of ice. Places without snow, little snow, and not springs held 6-8 inches of hard ice. Perch came in for 10 minutes, rocked all 4 rods and between the 3 of us we could only land 4 as we had quadruple hits twice. Was awesome but frustrating we didn't get more all day. Couldn't find gills in 20+ holes drilled

Eagle had 4 1/2” of good ice. I’m on the south east. Read a lot of fish but only caught a few.

Visited 3 lakes today. Went to little Paw Paw and it lost about 2 inches of ice. Solid 5 inches in certain spots. Fishing was tough, and only got one Perch in 3 hours. Then went to Gravel, and a couple brave souls fishing even though half the lake was open water with waves. Went to Cedar but didn't fish. Several folks out trying to get pike. Hoping this cold keeps the ice solid for this next warm front, but will see.
