Fished Lake Simcoe all day Saturday and until 12:00pm on Sunday before we had to call it quits and head back home. We fished out of Willow Beach where you can get into some good depth quickly. The bite both days was tough, but when you caught a fish, generally it was 10" - 13". it took all day, but we got our limit on Saturday and pulled another 25 a piece on Sunday morning, with even better quality. We used tubes, spoons and raps. My best producer was a tube, but it seemed like they got used to seeing the bait and then they'd stop. Switch baits, then catch a few more before you had to hole hop. Out of my 75 fish, I had 60 fish that were 10" and bigger, with nothing over 13". We fished 25 - 36fow and did best in 30 - 34fow. The ice is in great shape, solid 12" - 14" of good clear ice. There is a heave right off shore that I managed to bust through, but we found other spots to cross. This was my best trip ever as far as quality. Fish porn below. No transportation here, we are hoofers. We went out about 3/4 of a mile, estimate, to get into 30+ feet of water. The weather is looking cool for the next couple of weeks, so the ice isn't going anywhere. The pressure crack 10 feet off shore, should hold up as well. There were a couple of spots to cross with no issue.

Anyone up this weekend? This is my favorite time to fish simcoe. You literally have the entire lake to yourself and long days of sunshine. Just being out enjoying the day and still knowing 14" perch are swimming below you.

IMG_2874.JPG IMG_2870.JPG Fished cooks yesterday. Heard there was a hot bite in shallow so checked shallow. Seemed didn't matter where you fished after 12 o'clock because if was dead everywhere. Did get 27 for the day good size. Overall a nice day just frustrating sometimes when you can't get them. All fish came on plastics.....

Next week should be the start of the last ice bite. Low pressure days and rain. Good luck I'll post any info I find out. Don't matter now most have put stuff away anyways.

It was a tough bite this weekend. All big fish, and great weather for walking ice, just not for getting jumbo's active. That ice needs to soften up, it's like February ice out there. Looking at getting back there on the 7th. Should be good and scary by then.
