SOS told me since there was no lien I had the option to get a title on my 18 footer. I opted to get a title figuring it would make it easier to sell.

Neither the boat or trailer need a title. You should have a registration for boat and trailer. To sell, sign over the boat registration, give the buyer the trailer registration, take the plate off the trailer, write up a bill of sale. Be happy.

and the license will be worthless cause it is permanent for the owner and trailer to whom registered. When it sells new owner gets to get a new plate.

SoS told me that a Title for my boat was optional, a couple bucks extra to get one. The boat I was transferring (16.7', outboard) already had a green title so I opted to receive one as well.
