seeking advice-nighttime browns with spinning gear

    Not exactly the same thing, but last week I was up in Canada and casting a glo cleo right at dark along a shoreline and caught a couple very nice pike.

    Still haven't had any success for browns at night but honestly I've only made it out one other time since my last report.

    Right about now some big browns will start running the shoreline of the Great Lakes chasing minnows that the salmon are pushing in. It would be a pretty good time to start fishing for them, if all else fails you will get an early king, skamania, or coho. Three of the largest browns that I have taken were caught in August. I caught two in a river on spawn at night and one surf casting a little cleo.

    The later at night is decent advice but every night is different. I'm a fly guy but sometimes it happens right after dark, sometimes it's late, but generally the best time is when the temp bottoms out and stays there.
