I"m going to be buying a smoker soon, to do venison, beef, chicken etc. I've "heard" fish leave a fishy smell in the smoker, is this true? If so, should I buy a seperate smoker for fish...I can see oily fish like trout, salmon possibly leaving fishy smell...appreciate any and all input.

Mine doesn't smell fishy. It smells like smoke. Fresh fish doesn't smell fishy but bad fish does.

I use an electric smoker for my fish and Charcoal for everything else. The electric does carry a fishy taste when I have used it for sausage and jerky. All my fish is smoked fresh from the lake
