I have a 4 year old 300 HP Evinrude E-Tec on my Manitou pontoon. The power steering has recently went out.

Anyone ever have issues with the power steering with this engine?

My first guess is the pump is bad, but I'm wondering if anyone might have any thoughts on what my issue might be. Trying to avoid pulling it out of the water and waiting on the dealer.

Yikes? Really? Are you saying it's likely the pump?

It's still under warranty, so I'm not concerned about the cost, however, it chaps my ass to have to pull it our of the water while I wait on the dealer to work on it.

On the early G2 motors, the power steering drive had a plastic component that would fail They made the change to an aluminum coupler in late 2016 or early 17. In some applications the motor has to be pulled to service the pump
