any word on changing opening day to second saturday of November? get more people hunting...also what about allowing a camp deer again and finally getting the buck doe ratio in line...cant get a buck tag until you shot a doe...if DNR wants to address CDW etc...I think a couple of changes would help!
There is still very high support for opening day to remain on the 15th. Every DNR survey has shown increasing support over the previous one. More than likely we will see a January Special Hunt in DMUs with disease. 9 days have been approved but my guess it will be similar to this year’s format of 8 days. I doubt we will see a camp deer permit come back now that we can kill 2 bucks on a combo tag and a hunter can purchase up to 10 antlerless tags plus get disease control permits for free.
15th. Making it a Saturday won't increase hunter numbers, just conflicts. Ask anybody that duck hunts.
How would a buck to doe ratio of 1:1 stop cwd or do u feel this ratio would help your chance at bagging a big buck??
What's your estimate of how many antlered bucks, adult does, and fawns that exist in your area right now?
A very good friend of mine lives in Wisconsin. He told me for several years the did an earn a buck system. (No buck tage until you shoot a doe) He said 2 things happened: 1, the die hard hunters who refused to kill doe's, alot of them stopped hunting but others started killing doe's. 2, it drastically reduced the deer population. Wisconsin does not have that system anymore. My buddy would complain about the earn a buck system every year at my Hare camp while we were having beverages in the evening. This year he sent me 4 separate pic of 140 class bucks that his family had shot.
