I don't know is this is the right subsection to ask this question, but it seems like the best fit. The question I have is this, Is it legal to set up some steel targets on state land and practice shooting a pistol? How do I go about finding a good spot? And is there anybody I should contact before i do? Thank you

Just make sure you are not in some city/county w/ gun discharge regulations.

Local firearm discharge laws have no effect on state land. State target shooting rules apply.

I do it all the time. Totally legal but it makes the bow hunters sad to have their quiet busted...not that I care. Just make sure you're safe and smart. Have fun!!!!

Post #2 is a good read.
