I for one am all about a saturday opener . I have 4 kids who have not seen an opening day yet due to school.

Its not like it was 20 yrs ago when we were in school heck my school used to close on the 15th.

Teachers nowadays are pushed like crazy to educate our kids and hitting certain educational milestones is big business in schools due to additional funds becoming available

At least with a saturday opener i get to enjoy this great mi tradition with all my kids and not have to worry about it affecting there grades.

Keep it the 15th so everyone has a chance to hunt on opening day. Not everyone has a m-f 8-5 work week. The way it is now everyone can hunt on the 15th . May not be every year but every now and then is better than not at all.

I must admit, I've never heard the "ox analogy", and quite honestly, nor do I understand it.

As for being a hypocrite??? Damn STRAIGHT!! In EVERY sense of the word, and I have no problem sleeping at night whatsoever.

IMO bills like this only reinforce the arguement that we only need a part time legislature/government and a lot less of it as well. With everything else that's going on that we need help with and resolutions to this is how my hard earned tax dollars are being spent? :dizzy:

BTW - I'd vote to leave it alone, if I cant make it on the 15th I'll get there as soon as I can. ;)

Season opens on January 1st and lasts one day. The majority of us hunters are off that day so participation would be phenominal plus the bucks would be spared the horror of being hunted while they are chasing does.;)

Yeah while at it let's make changes not to offend anyone.
3rd shift workers get to hunt at night, after dark.
No hunting on black friday unfair to retail workers.
No weekend hunting due to different religion beliefs. Have to keep it even.
Wait we can not please all. With the 15th it moves around so every now and than ur happy!
