i was sale but have no idea.
Is it legal to open carry a sidearm durning hunting season.

Archery in particular but all hunting was the that was asked and I have no idea.

This was asked because the person does not have a CPL.

    Any help would be appreciated

The way the law is written you need a specific exception to the CPL to carry while deer hunting without a CPL. Also open carry while deer hunting even with CPL would likely get you a ticket.

Deleted the post and link. Based on that part of the digest, pretty clear.

What would the ticket be for? you are not required to conceal when carrying with a cpl.

during archery season you can not carry, if you don't have a cpl.
with a cpl you may carry.

I have a CPL and carried my 1911 .45 today concealed. I did open carry my souped up .22 squirrel rifle and busted two tree rats for dinner.

Did I break the law? What if I decided to open carry my .22 Ruger pistol to shoot a squirrel as I've done forever?

Small game season is on the same as archery.

Open carry is legal in Michigan solely because there isn’t a law forbidding it. The way the hunting guide reads you need a CPL or be exempt from the requirements for a CPL. Off hand I do not know all of the exemptions, but do not think open carry is listed as one.

From what i understand if your ARCHERY hunting you are archery hunting not gun hunting can not do both at same time ( with a gun )! be a good one to go to law section and ask!

    Thanks for the reply’s.
You can see how it gets gray.
With mi having open carry legal one would think with hunters orange you could double up. Archer deer . Small game. Coyote hunt. Many opportunities pass but when sitting in the stand

It’s not grey. Unless you have a CPL you cannot carry a handgun while bow hunting. It is in black and white.
