I was thinking about asking the neighborhood kid if he wanted to learn to ice fish. That would probably do the trick but he's to lazy to even cut his dad's lawn or blow snow so I'm not sure if it will work!

I thought I heard or read that the Pacific Ocean currents were setting us up for a minor La Nina this year. Which if I understood right, slightly below normal temps, with an increase in average snowfall.

Why don't you build a smitty sled? I made one Last year and they work very well. It actually sort of takes off on a downhill.

There is no way I could pull my two man flip-over around in heavy or deep snow without a smitty sled, best thing I ever put together for ice fashing.

I'm moving to west virginia for 2 years in January and, while excited, im going to really miss this ice fishing season. Last winter was just starting to figure things out on the lakes around me and got my first lake trout through the ice while solo which was a tremendous accomplishment for me. Hoping for early ice so I can at least get a couple weeks on the hardwater this season. The north will always call me back though I've got the bug now haha.

Looking back I first got on ice on December 14th at lake Mitchell last year (I know some guys got on during the earlier cold snap in november).

Don't need deep snow, but would like another year like 2014 when everything froze. Want to hit the big water again.

I have the stabilicers .. Had them for years .
I read on another forum that they run small , so with a size 11 lacrosse ice king I bought the size 14 . I would have been good with a 14 . Very sturdy well made !

K&E, I've been using these for a very long time. Durable, effective, and one of the better cleets for bigger boots.. Sold at Franks. They sell replacement straps as well.

I have a set of yaktracs. (Sp?). They’re just some small springs on some rubber straps that you stretch over your boot, toe to heel.
I couple times They have rolled on me, It have never come off my mickeys. Super light weight.

Be on ice before to long.... Hoping to be on even earlier this hardwater season. Last year was on northern lake on Nov 16th. 20191116_161122.jpg
