This YouTube video shows a guy shooting a 50 cal. sniper rifle at a steel plate that is 1,000 yards away and the bullet ricochets off the plate, comes right back and bounces off the dirt, and knocks the earmuffs off the guy's head. It all happens within a couple of seconds.

I wonder how much velocity it has after bouncing off a plate that completely reverses direction, 2,000 yards total distance, then bounces off the ground?

I'm a little skeptical but anything is possible.

There is another video stating that this is a real video but the ricochet is about 170 yds, not 1,000.

Shooting armored vehicles sometimes has the same effect. Thats why it's always important to have a spare pair of skivvies in your ruck at all times...

The answer to how much velocity is enough velocity.

Didn't I actually hear the round coming back? The "whine" of the bullet went up in pitch? That would mean the round was subsonic after richocheting. Still enough to seriously mess somebody up, or worse.

I worked with a guy who shoots a 45 ACP at bowling pins. Comes in to work with a huge ugly bruse on his forhead. Tells us he was shooting at a bowling pins and the skin on the pin held the bullet long enough to spin the pin around and send the bullet back to him. Smacked him in the forehead. He kept ice on it for a day. later he tells me the round he shot was a reload. He used a very light load of powder. So the round had little recoil. He had the bruse for 6 weeks and a ugly scar. Hes lucky to be alive.

Okay....growing up with a BB gun I would shoot lots things . Lots of things that are hard enough would allow that hard bb to bounce back.

I would like to know how many kids shot their eye out ?
