I’m curious of what new hunting items you all are buying for 2018?

    New items for me:

    -stone glacier 3300 solo pack
-vortex backcountry tripod with Bino adapter

I’m glad you posted this... I haven’t ordered yet, should I get the 40/56? I do lots of weekend backpack trips and typically two weeks of backpack hunts in the fall.

I'll be getting a new Kifaru bag for my pack frame along with a few accessories for it. Also ordering some new lightweight quick drying hunting clothes and rain gear for out west hunting.

  8. If you are going out for more than 5 days the 3300 is too small.

I just put the 40/56 on the frame this afternoon, going to fill it up this week for a hike. I'll let you know how it compares. It's roughly the same bag but with a side entry, the added spotter pocket, and roll top. The roll top allows for a lot more stuff to be packed at first glance.

Rokslide has a few Solo's/R3's for sale in the classifieds if you go that route. Once in a while you can find the old 5100's too.

Please do! I like that the lid can be added too. I want a week long bag that will also fit in overhead compartment while flying. My bulky alps commander frame is too bulky and heavy.

Going to upgrade my rifle scope to a Vortex Viper 4-12x44 - want to become proficient out to 500 yards
Going to Colorado for a muzzle loader hunt - they require fixed sights (no optics) so I am deciding whether to buy a plain jane ML or just borrow my buddies

What are you looking at in terms of gear? I have not started to do so, but I suppose that I need to start looking into it.

You caught me a year late! I bought a lot of gear last year for an elk hunt this coming fall. I think the only thing left on my list is another 1/2 dozen arrows and maybe a back-up release.

    Last year included:
    -Matthews Halon 32 Bow
    -Kuiu Vest and Jacket
    -First Lite Puffy
-Eddie Bauer 0 degree synthetic sleeping bag
    -Scarpa Boots
    -SKB Bow Case

    :D

No major gear additions planned at this time. However a garage/pole barn is in the works to store everything I already have. My house is starting to get slightly crowded!
