I find it rather interesting that the anti MAR crowd is all about VAPRs and QDM, and the MDNR is a huge proponent of the QDM co ops and supports them in word and deed, not to mention the QDMA and MDNR have a MOU.
Of course we all know that QDM co ops promote the protection of 1.5 yo bucks and some 2.5 yo bucks combined with adequate antlerless harvest to keep populations at, or preferably below, carrying capacity.
It's also worth noting that the MDNR supports habitat enhancements on both public and private properties, which is a key component of sound deer management.
Now, I wonder if I were to abandon my efforts in the MAR realm and dedicate more of my time and energy in to promoting MORE QDM co ops and/or expansion of existing co ops, including my own, if the MDNR and anti MAR crowd would champion those efforts even thought they're on record against protecting any age class of bucks.
Things that make you go hmmmm.

Folks need to read scientific papers with an open mind vs looking for key words that fit their mind set such that they fully understand what was being studied specifically.
Words such as: like might may could possibly are areas of speculation vs actually having been studied and proven to be fact.
When an article is full of scientific "speak" terms used to impress(?) the peer reviewers the tendency of novice readers is to see what reinforces their preconceived idea based on a (few) key words.
As lightfoot says it takes a bit of time with an open mind to wade through the research that was done to prove/disprove one hypothesis as factual or not.
Along the way more hypothesis are generated for further testing research and study.
Read things with an open mind understand what you really read vs what you thought you read before hitting the key board.
Part of the solution to CWD will be "informed" hunters doing their part
not because they are forced by some imposed regulation but rather because its the right thing to do for the betterment of the deer herds that every hunter wishes for.
How many read the article that says prions(folded protiens) may be a defensive against CWD and not the cause?

Good thing you don't bag groceries for a living. You got the bread and eggs with the can goods and the raw meat and fresh fruit together.

Given the big money for big buck genetics, can you imagine the 2” spike these genes came from? Lol
