My wife and son do not like hunting morning’s, they both say it’s because they never see deer in the morning’s, therefore they never kill deer in the mornings. I tell them they have to actually get out of bed and be in the woods in the morning to see a deer to kill it.......anyways. Have you had more success in the mornings or the evenings, and the same rule’s apply, you must hunt both times of day and let’s say the hunters who have killed 10 or more when has your last 10 been killed.

Most of my spots are tough to access in the morning without bumping deer. Tho starting first part of November I sit all day a lot. I would rather shoot them in n the morning, gives ya all day to take care of it,

Afternoons are more comfortable, but I prefer mornings. I love watching the world come to life with it getting lighter by the minute. Everything is so still when you go out in the dark. Last 10...7 AM - 3 PM. Although 2 of the AMs were just before noon.

I love mornings from Halloween on but I’ve shot more bucks in the evening.

Just deer, my boy is just as happy with a 5pt as he is with a doe. To him a deer is a deer, then my wife would rather shoot a doe then a buck, and don’t ask me about that logic.

My last ten bucks have been 3 a.m. and 7 in the p.m.

I prefer mornings but get the chance to hunt more afternoons.

In the first 3 weeks of October it’s afternoons only.

From the last week of October through the end of the first week of firearms it’s 1/3 mornings, 1/3 10:00-2:00 and 1/3 afternoons.

From the second week of firearms until the end of seasons 90% afternoons.

That is very close for the last couple dozen 3-1/2 year old or older bucks. Everyday is opening day in the UP.

I thought about this recently. I’d say In a normal bow season i hunt 75% evenings and 25% mornings. Yet for some reason I’ve never killed a deer in the morning with my bow. I’ve killed quite a few however In the mornings with a gun.
    Bow;
    0 morning
    3 evening
    Gun
    7 morning
    1 night

6am, 4pm. Bucks over the same period 2am, 1pm. I did and still sort of do prefer mornings tho. Shots are in better light generally, tracking easier, no getting trapped in your stand. So its sort of self fulfilling. Last November 2nd through 14th my morning hunts were terrible to the point where I was only hunting afternoons by the end, and afternoons were great. I think I was missing something to get on them in the mornings tho.

I think of the last 10 it's 5 in the pm, and 5 in the am . But it has alot to do with available hunt times. When my son was younger and we were busier I'd hunt am and skip pm's. Just due to family responsibilities. If given the choice I'd rather kill in the am easier to track in daylight and I don't have to wear a headlamp to gut. Less chance of a sleepless night if you make a bad hit.

Counting just bucks it's kind of a mixed record that has more to do with where I was hunting. Of the last ten four were A. M., four were P. M., one was at 12:30, and one I honestly don't remember. It was one of those gray days, so from the memory I don't recall if it was A. M. or P. M. The four P. M. bucks were all at a different camp than the others. P. M. was more common there, and A. M. is more common where I hunt now.
