Morning Hunt (srsga) wasn't great but it wasn't bad either.

Nice band! We limited on woodies this morning too, but no bands for us. Got a few nice drakes though. We limited on wood ducks in about 20 minutes, then sat till 11 waiting for anything else to show up, but a steady stream of woodies is all we got.

We've had better openers, but we've also had much worse, so I can't complain too much. Just glad the season is here.
We are heading out to the bay tomorrow.

Wonder why there are no mallard or teal at Shiawassee? We saw Mallards, woodies shot 2. teals mostly blue wing. Did you guys hunt the flooded timber?

Oh we saw tons of mallards this morning at shi, it's just that every one was about 10,000 feet up.

Hunted Miller opening morning and got the field we wanted after scouting the previous couple days. Wasn't a shootout, but wasn't a bust. Good time with good buds.
I thought the draw went smooth. I actually liked it better.

One guy posts a picture of a woody.

Conclusion: there are no mallards or teal at Shiawassee.

I'm guessing the OP had some mallards in his bag, he just didn't need to mention that

Hunted shi this morning. Thought the draw went as well as possible. Staff did a great job. The cover was as good as I’ve seen hunting managed areas....
So good in fact we missed opportunity’s at woodies and teal because of the tall corn...I’m use to fp corn where I can stand up and see across the whole field...not a knock at fp, I love fp ...shi in my opinion has a more scenic backdrop with the hardwoods.
We did hunt prior rd. Was a little sketched out about getting to other areas in the dark...thank god we did, guy brought a boat that was way to heavy to man handle over a dike....I’d like to try again and see the woods...I see why people could really get into that place....I never pulled the trigger but 1 guy in group got a bw teal....seen a little bit of everything

With the amount of oaks there, no surprise
