Lemon juice actually improves conductivity. Try some and then give this tester a try...
Back in the early 70s, they had those cheap reception that the wires just plugged into the back. Quick n easy, yes, but they don't last.
So if your house was built around then, they could be your issue.
If it's not that plug, could be the next one up the line.
Where can you buy those? Great gift item
It will not tell you if you have an open neutral so it only identifies half the problem.
Buy a receptacle tester. $5 and up. It will identify the problem.
There almost too easy!

Yes ,you are right.
Here' s some fun.....
Neighbor on the ladder to security lite, me flipping breakers one at a time to kill power and i.d. breaker circuit was on. No dice.
So ,we' ll just touch two wires together, fry part of neutral and not trip a breaker......
Circuit tied to two breakers.
So - What was the cause?
My oldest daughter used a butter knife to get a plug out of an outlet when she was about three. Burned a notch into the knife and scared the #&+$$ out of her, but could have been worse. We still have the knife. She said on that day she decided to be a Chem E and not an EE...
Let's try again. What was the cause?
Maybe his power is still out haha
Had company all weekend. Still broke. Going to replace the plug. If not that, calling electrician.
Thanks for the update.
Keep us posted.
If not that recept, I'm still betting on the next one back on that line.
I've had it happen twice
