Not going to happen. Not sure why this question came up, but just curious. All the best...

Maybe he has one of the shotguns and access to the other's barrel but doesn't have both shotguns in front of him.

I am curious why none of the responding posters explained why the two barrels are not interchangeable. I especially liked post #4.

The ring underneath the barrel on the Remington 870 is not as wide as the ring on the Remington 1100. This ring sides over the end of the fore-end tube and gets locked down. The breech end of the barrel that sides into the receiver is also different.

Yes I have both shotguns and the 870 is a retired " Police Special " with a 16" BBL, I was hoping the use the 30" full choke for sporting clays !

Are you sure you measured the 870 barrel correctly? A shotgun barrel by both state and federal law has to be at least 18". If that barrel really is 16", do not put it on the shotgun. That would make it a NFA item short barrel shotgun which requires ATF approval and a $200 tax paid. Otherwise, it is a serious felony on the federal level.
