Hey all, I'm heading up to Mullet in early June, and was wondering whether or not we would beat the mayfly hatch this year. Can anyone tell me when that starts typically? I will have to change up my walleye set up if it's gonna be mayfly season! Thanks!

I'm going to Burt early June also. If I remember right the hatch is mid to late June and goes until after the 4th.

It'll be a little early this year... Suckers started running off the Big Manistique Lake last Wednesday... that's about a week or even 2 early.

Do you drop down to a partial crawler for your rigs or will they still go after bigger presentations?

Darren Howard, i will be there the 10th-17th also. Last year I was there the 4th-11th. They were just starting to hatch at the end of the week. My kids had a blast catching them at the campsite as I sat at the campfire and scowled. Hope it's different this year we had to go later because of the kids school schedule. We'll see what happens.

I've got a friend who's up there this week and he said it's still slow from the cold weather. Maybe that will push back the hatch, they are finding a few in stomachs but they are not full of em yet... Getting pretty close for my comfort, I'm debating just going up tomorrow! Haha

I wish I had that option, but the kids dictate my schedule. My uncle is headed there sat. for the next week, so I'll get a report from him here and there as the week goes on.

We had several kinds of Mayflies at our cabin last weekend. We are near Hale. We had a lot of big fat bugs, and the Gills, and Sunfish were stuffed.

I live on Crooked, just down the road. Ran me off the lake last night. With the warm up coming, they will be in full force by Monday...:(

That doesn't sound encouraging. Going to fish hard anyway. Darren Howard are you camping at the state park?
