There are Steelhead in the Big Manistee river every day of the year.
Peaks around gun season cuz everyone is hunting!
I really hope rain stays in forecast. Surely will be few around but need that darn rain to draw good numbers! Can’t wait for fall steel......
Thanks...planning on hiring a guide and taking a buddy out as a retirement gift. Sounds like early October isnt a good time?
If, God forbid, I only had one day of the year to go steelhead fishing it would be Nov 15th
Ha, got it!
This was 16th last year. Tied 8 spawn bags, loose steel, hooked 6 fish. Lost PB steel that day, buddy lost two on waxies and boated one. Also caught several browns, not big but fun.
There was a 23# Steelhead caught right below the coffer at Tippy, last year; right around this time of year. Massive fish. There surely are bigger numbers later, but there are Steelhead around right now. There are probably some hanging around the mouth of the Little River, too.
WOW . Those are some beautiful steely's ! Makes me want to get my steel head equipment out and head to Manistee.
Mid October into December is usually better.
Beautiful fish. Where would you launch a small boat to fish the river? Thanks
Tippy, High Bridge, Bear Creek, or Rainbow Bend.
Thank you. Looks like I've got a scouting trip in the near future to check the launches out.
