I am a teacher and we are doing a unit of the effects zebra mussels have on the Great Lakes. I went out to Wigwam Bay in Standish looking for some zebra mussels, or just the shells to show my class. I couldn't find any. Does anyone have any ideas on where I could find some?

I know it's a little bit of a trip for you , but , there are scuba divers every weekend just south of the Blue Water Bridges in Port Huron , I'm willing to bet they would be happy to get some for you.

Thanks, but looking for something more local. I know I've seen them in Augres in the past, but didn't want to make a trip for nothing.

Tons in the Big Manistee river. I think it may be illegal to move them though because they are so invasive and not native.

I'd be concerned about the legality of transporting them. A treble hook dragging bottom from your favorite pier should net you a cluster. Rip rap near the mouth of a river/tributary should have something attached.
