For the last 2 years I've had very low success in finding someone to do repairs and improvements on our property in Wolverine. We resulted in working through Lowes on a few jobs with varying success from OK to horrible. I understand everybody is busy and we have always been flexible. Also understand hunting season is on the way but looking to get a couple door frames replaced before winter. Anybody on here do work up in the area or have someone you would recommend? TIA
Exterior. They are on a mobile home so they are non standard sizes and I'm not sure of how the frame connects to the walls etc. I believe my father had them custom replaced at some point in the past. He's passed away and the guy who did them is no longer in business.
Mobile home construction is totally different. I've done a couple and can tell you, they are a pain. The unit itself is double to triple the cost of standard. The frames are made of particle board, that cannot resist moisture. It can be done, but there is a lot of labor cost. It is not like replacing a door in a standard construction.
Just about all of the big box home improvement stores will have what you need or can order it. https://www.menards.com/main/doors-windows-millwork/exterior-doors/mobile-home-doors/c-7566.htm They are definitely not the easiest doors to work on. Buy a cheaper one for the door you seldom use and practice on it. I'll bet there are plenty of youtube how-to videos to help as well.
There is a mobile home parts place in traverse http://www.libertysupplyandservice.com/ They can get what you need, might not be an upgrade but it will be factory new, and you can avoid a lot of headaches of framing a new opening in a mobile. Did a neighbors mobile bathroom with parts from there a few months ago, easy job. Sent from my iPhone using Michigan Sportsman mobile app
Sorry, my post was meant to say its hard to find a home improvement type contractor in Northern Mi. not necessarily about mobile homes.
That s always been a problem up here. finding people to work. Now with covid materials are hard to come by, and contractors are just swamped.
Have had this guy do work for us before, does great work at reasonable prices. - https://www.yellowpages.com/west-branch-mi/mip/kevins-mobile-home-repair-6193979
