1. Over twenty years ago I started this website to be a gathering place for sportsmen and sportswomen to share their experiences around hunting, fishing, camping, gathering, hiking, etc. That's why we all came here - to learn from one another.

What we didn't come here for was to tear each other down and form wedge issues between sportspeople. It has turned many of us against each other when we all share the common love for the outdoors. It seems that many now come only to this forum to troll each other for sport. A 500 post limit was put in place to try and keep the professional trolls out, but they still insidiously join the site and post mindlessly to get their 500 posts in before they start to troll.

No team of moderators can control the amount of animosity and hatred that is thrown around in this forum and we shouldn't have to. It's not what we came to this site to do. With the upcoming election and the current political and social climate, the situation is sure to get worse. And really how many minds do you all think you change anyway?

Therefore, starting July 8th, this forum (politics forum only) will be closed to everyone except Supporting Members and this goes for being able to read the forum material as well. All of the current rules of conduct will still remain in effect for Supporting Members. Strikes can and still will be handed out for violations to the code on conduct and three strikes and you are out. Some of you already are very close and a few have even been given second and third chances by me because I thought you could still post about hunting and fishing topics. Please prove me right! DO NOT go out and purchase a Supporting Membership thinking that you will be able to now have free reign as this will not be the case. You can still be banned and no refund will be given.

If these measures do not improve the tone in this forum, then the next step will be closing it entirely. Again, do not purchase a Supporting Membership with the intent of raising hell on this forum as you can still be banned and the Politics forum may not always be here. Anyone who purchases a supporting membership and smells of a PAC (i.e. you come out of the blue ).

Don't like all of this? Go start your own political group on social media and go at it there, but leave this site to hunting and fishing topics.

    Dismiss Notice

Lies and more lies...oh wait, they are just alternative facts!

‘Demoralizing’ dispute: Trump rejects his own nominee’s team on what Gorsuch told senators

President Trump lashed out at Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., on Thursday after the lawmaker said Judge Neil Gorsuch, Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court, had called the president’s criticism of judges “demoralizing” and “disheartening.”

“Sen. Richard Blumenthal, who never fought in Vietnam when he said for years he had (major lie), now misrepresents what Judge Gorsuch told him?” Trump tweeted.

Yet according to former New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, who is leading the White House team working to confirm Trump’s pick, Gorsuch indeed used those words to describe “any criticism of a judge’s integrity.” And Trump has indeed repeatedly laced into the integrity of federal judges who have so far stymied his immigration ban.

“Judge Gorsuch has made it very clear in all of his discussions with senators, including Sen. Blumenthal, that he could not comment on any specific cases and that judicial ethics prevent him from commenting on political matters,” Ayotte said in a statement. “He has also emphasized the importance of an independent judiciary, and while he made clear that he was not referring to any specific case, he said that he finds any criticism of a judge’s integrity and independence disheartening and demoralizing.”

Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., said that Gorsuch criticized Trump’s attacks in a meeting with him as well.

“He said any attack on any brothers or sisters of the robe is an attack on all judges,” Sasse said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Thursday. “He believes in an independent judiciary.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also said Gorsuch told him he was disheartened by the president’s comments.

And a White House official confirmed Gorsuch’s comments to a wide range of media outlets.

Gorsuch’s rebuke of Trump came on the heels of the president’s criticism of James Robart, the federal judge who issued a restraining order against his controversial executive order banning immigration from seven predominantly Muslim countries.

“The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!” Trump tweeted. “What is our country coming to when a judge can halt a Homeland Security travel ban and anyone, even with bad intentions, can come into U.S.?”

The U.S. government appealed the ruling, and a decision from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is expected soon. And Trump blasted the appeals court on Wednesday for its sometimes “political” approach to the White House’s position during hearings the day before.

“I don’t ever want to call a court biased, so I won’t call it biased,” Trump said during a gathering of police chiefs and sheriffs in Washington, D.C. “And we haven’t had a decision yet. But courts seem to be so political, and it would be so great for our justice system if they would be able to read a statement and do what’s right.”

    Hahahaha!

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/feb/8/democrats-strike-out-in-fighting-trump-after-swing/

    Let’s review:

Given an opportunity to have real buy-in, with Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota considered for Mr. Trump’s Cabinet, both interviewed and then withdrew.

After dragging out the Cabinet confirmations to the slowest pace in modern history, they are now 0-for-6, with Betsy DeVos and Jeff Sessions each being confirmed this week as education secretary and attorney general, respectively.

Next up are Health and Human Services nominee Tom Price and Treasury Secretary nominee Steven Mnuchin, both of whom will almost certainly be confirmed within days despite Democratic opposition.

In the four hours after President Trump named his outstanding first Supreme Court appointment, Judge Neil Gorsuch, fully nine Senate Democrats pledged that they would not support a filibuster, bringing the White House to within one vote of the 60 votes needed to guarantee confirmation.

    Who is lying?
And since when did judges become such revered figures? Prior to being appointed or elected their profession was a bit above used car salesmen in trustworthiness. Remember the old joke "What do you call a thousand lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start!"

    http://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...okesperson-denies-that-remark-was-about-trump

A spokeswoman for Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch on Thursday disputed reports that he called President Trump's attack on a federal judge "demoralizing."

While former Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) confirmed that Gorsuch used such language in a meeting with Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), she said it "was not in reference to any specific case."

“Judge Gorsuch has made it very clear in all of his discussions with senators, including Senator Blumenthal, that he could not comment on any specific cases and that judicial ethics prevent him from commenting on political matters," former Ayotte (R-N.H.) said, according to Frank Thorp of NBC News. Ayotte is helping guide Gorsuch through his meetings with senators.

"He has also emphasized the importance of an independent judiciary, and while he made clear that he was not referring to any specific case, he said that he finds any criticism of a judge's integrity and independence disheartening and demoralizing,” she added.

After meeting with Gorsuch, Bluementhal tweeted Wednesday that Gorsuch had called Trump's attack on a federal judge "disheartening" and "demoralizing." The comment, according to Blumenthal, was in reference to Trump's tweets over the weekend where he attacked a federal judge.
    Read the rest at link.

In other words Blumenthal was politicizing nonsense for his own gain.

Luckily the right never complained about that one, so I guess you have the moral high ground now!
