Ive got a 17 ft mirrocraft and an MLB layout.
Im thinking carpeted 2x6 runners vertical and removable angle brackets.

    Any better suggestion?

I like that, but I don't weld aluminum and I'm not great with steel.

I use the system you are considering. I notched the bottoms so I don't have to have a frame and they store out of the way when hunting.
I dont have the down angle on one side, dont really need it. I have a baby bankes and my boat is light.

We simply cut open and screwed black corrugated drain tile along the gunnel. Works great and nothing to remove, or be in the way, after launch.

I should also mention I want the boat to remain looking nice.

I also use the drain title cut long ways to protect the layout going in and out. But I just lay my layout boat right in the boat of the boat.

Know what you mean about "keeping it nice". The tile protects both the layout and the mother ship. The few small screw holes are inconspicuous.

Decided to go with carpeted runners with my new paten pending easy remove system...

Looks good. Are you planning on trailing it down the road like that? If a strap comes loose its gonna take off like a sail. Good luck this season

Haha, no. It travels to and from the launch in the truck bed.
